Baby Butler Hands Free Bottle Holder

Shopping for a baby shower gift?
10 things to know

We, of course, think the Hands Free Bottle Holder makes a perfect, inexpensive baby shower gift for new parents and grandparents.  But if you're still in the shopping mode, here are some things to consider.

1. Girl, Boy, or Surprise!

It is probably safest to buy gender-generic gifts even if the gender is "known" - there are always surprises.  lf you do buy a gender-specific baby shower gift, be sure to keep the receipt so it can be returned if needed.

2. Registered?

More and more new parents are registering for their baby shower.  This is great because it ensures the new parents get everything they need and few duplicates.  If there is a gift registry, it's a good idea to use this to buy your gift for the baby shower.  Of course, since the Hands Free Bottle Holder is such a new product, it may not be on a gift registry.

3. Buy Bigger Sizes

If you are going to buy clothes for the new arrival, buy larger sizes.  And be sure to buy seasonally appropriate outfits for the age the baby will be when wearing the clothes.  Most babies wear the size of the age they are - though some may be bigger or smaller.

4. Thinking About Giving Something Extra Special?

For extra-special gifts, like a hand made baby book, it's smart to check with the family and make sure there won't be duplicates.  For purchased items, be sure to include the gift receipt and let the parents know your feelings won't be hurt if they need to return the item.

5. Chip In on Expensive Items

If  the family needs large items, such as cribs, strollers and car seats, consider pooling money with a few other people.  This lifts a big burden off new parents and is a very practical gift idea.

6. Safety First

Keep in mind that you're buying for a baby and safety comes first!  There are guidelines for baby toy safety, including materials and size.  Generally the toy should not fit through the opening of a toilet paper roll.  Make sure the item is lead-free if it's painted.

7. Give Something Practical

Baby clothes and baby toys are all just so cute; you may want to buy everything you see.  But think about buying something purely practical for the new parents - such as diapers or feeding supplies.  These are the things new parents need most of all.

8.  Give Something Hand Made

Nothing touches a new mom more than someone taking the time to make something just for her baby.  If you have the talent, you can create an heirloom quilt, pillow or baby book.  There are even simpler items, such as hand made parenting advice books or a collection of snippets of wisdom for parents you have assembled into a booklet for the mom-to-be.

9. Talk to the Parents

If the parents aren't registered, talk to them about what they need and want.  This way you are sure to bring a gift to the baby shower that will be truly needed and appreciated.

10.  Buy something for the Mom!

The baby will be overwhelmed with gifts at the baby shower.  Why not give something just for the new mom?  Consider a pedicure or massage gift certificate or a home spa kit. Be creative - it will certainly be appreciated.
